(KNOX) – Members of Grand Forks City Council were part of a delegation who toured sports facilities last week in the Fargo region and Grand Forks to see some ideas for the planned sports complex in Grand Forks.

Council member Ken Vein says that the tours were informative.

“I thought it was a very good trip to take. I know I learned a lot, not only learning from what others did and probably what they didn’t do, and meeting the people. I think that was the other thing to do. Talk to them individually,” Vein said.

The delegation included Mayor Brandon Bochenski, city council members, city staff, and Altru Sports Complex Design and representatives, along with representatives from various project stakeholder organizations.

“It was really ideal. It showed the interest we have in the facility and the importance it’s going to bring,” Vein said.

It started last week at the North Dakota State University Nodak Insurance Football Performance Complex, then continued at the WE B Giving Foundation Bison Athletics Operations Center and then the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility, the West Fargo Public Schools Hulbert Aquatic Center, then the Fargo Pars Sports Center.

The tours ended at the University of North Dakota Frederick “Fritz” D. Pollard Jr. Athletic Center in Grand Forks.
