(KNOX) -The Northland Rescue Mission in Grand Forks can use donations as the holidays approach. Executive Director Sue Shirek told KNOX News that they take just about any type of household items, cloths and food.

“If you wanted to donate any sort of winter gear, food, backpack food. Turkeys for Thanksgiving, boot, coats, hats, mittens, jeans you don’t wear anymore — whatever the case may be,” Shirek said.

Go to northlandsrescuemission.org to find out ways you can donate.

“We are always accepting donations. That’s one of the wonders of being a 24/7 establishment is the door is kind of always open,” said Shirek said.

They do not accept bar soap, candy, most perishable foods, used mattresses/bedding, or products containing alcohol (e.g. mouthwash, hand sanitizer).

For certain items like toothbrushes or combs, please purchase individually wrapped items when possible.

Please ensure that donated clothes are odorless and in good condition. They strive to provide our clients with quality clothing that makes them feel comfortable and confident.

Northlands Rescue Mission is located at 420 Division Avenue in Grand Forks. Donations can be dropped off at that location.

“Pull-up in the alley, on the eastside of the building, and come up around by door number 2. If it is during business hours you can drop off things there. Ring the bell, and we can help you out,” Shirek said.

The phone number is 701-772-6600. The email address of the mission is info@jointhemisson.org.
