(KNOX) – Every year, Paul Sprole grows sweet corn.
Sprole hosts “Cans for Corn,” where people donate canned goods to the Salvation Army in exchange for the sweet corn that he grows.
There’s a shortage of volunteers this year to pick the field, which is about one hundred yards north of 62nd Avenue South on Cherry Street.
The picking will be done from noon to six Wednesday and there will also be a truckload of red potatoes available. There are signs posted in front of the corn field.
Paul Sprole says “Cans for Corn” fills the food pantry for about three months.
