Grand Forks Fire Department Responds to Cooking Fire

(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to 3551 Ruemmele Rd for a report of a smoke detector activation called in by phone.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke on the third floor. The fire was quickly extinguished, with no fire damage to the structure.

Firefighters ventilated smoke from the building and all residents were allowed back in. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, due to unattended cooking

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, one command vehicle, and 17 personnel.

There were no injuries to the occupants or fire service personnel.

The Fire Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance and the Grand Forks Police Department.

The Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind residents to never leave cooking unattended.
