(KNOX) -At about 5:15 Tuesday afternoon the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 4401 32nd Ave South for a large hazmat spill.

The initial arriving units encountered a semi carrying Ammonium Bisulfite tipped over on its side.

Crews worked to dam the product spilling from the trailer, preventing it from getting into the storm sewer system.

The Grand Forks Public Works department applied sand to the spilled product.

A contractor was called in to clean up the site.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with two engines, one hazmat vehicle, and two command vehicles with 12 personnel.

There were no injuries to the public or fire service personnel.

The Fire Department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, Grand Forks Public Works, and Interstate Towing.
