(North Dakota Monitor) -Former Minot lawmaker Clara Sue Price will fill a vacancy in the North Dakota House of Representatives through Nov. 30.

The executive committee of the District 40 Republicans named Price to fill the remainder of the term for Rep. Randy Schobinger, R-Minot, who died in August.

“She’s been in our district for decades,” said Jay Lundeen, chair of NDGOP District 40.

Lundeen added that Price is active with the Minot-area Republicans and she and Schobinger were friends.

“She was close with him, so I just thought that would be kind of a good fit just from that perspective,” he said.

Lundeen said Price isn’t interested in seeking election to the seat.

Price represented the area just north of Minot from 1991 to 2008 in the state House and was a chair of the Human Services Committee during her last session in 2007.

Price serves as the vice chair on the board of directors for Trinity Health and was a previous treasurer for NDGOP District 40 in 2016.

Republicans Rep. Matthew Ruby and Macy Bolinske and Democrat Alexandra Deufel are running for two District 40 House seats in November.
