Candidates certified for North Dakota’s November 5 ballot

(KNOX) – On September 5, 2024, North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe certified candidates for the office of president and vice president to be placed on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot. The Democratic-NPL Party nominated Kamala D. Harris and Tim Walz. The Republican Party nominated Donald J. Trump and JD Vance. The Libertarian Party was approved for North Dakota 2024 ballot access in March and nominated Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat.

The deadline for independent statewide and legislative candidates to file nominating petitions for the November 5, 2024 General Election has also passed. The petitions for the following candidates met all the applicable form and signature requirements required under North Dakota law:

  • Michael Coachman and Lydia Gessele (Governor and Lieutenant Governor candidates)
  • Robert Tolar (State Senate District 06 candidate)

Additionally, two candidates submitted filings to appear on the General Election ballot for an unexpired 2-year House term in District 23:

  • Mark Casler (Democratic-NPL Party)
  • Dennis Nehring (Republican Party)
