(KNOX) -The Grand Valley Pedestrian Study is examining growth in an undeveloped area of Grand Forks.

Tyler Manske of the Grand Forks-East Grand Forks Metropolitan Planning Organization explained to the Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission that it is being done in the undeveloped south end of Grand Forks.

“This is a new study that started about late May, early June. And the purpose of it is to review the Grand Valley area,” Manske told the commission

Anticipated growth in that area is the focus of the study.

“In order to best future proof some pedestrian crossing ideas in that area as we start to build it out,” Manske said.

Manske told the commission that they have contacts with stakeholders in the area.

“A robust connection with schools. Both existing, and also we have a representative from the proposed Christin School. So we do have some commitments there,” said Manske.

Manske said that they also have other contacts with participants in the area.

“In the coming weeks we have planned one on one meetings with some stakeholders that couldn’t commit to a steering committee, but might be willing to just do a one-on-one meeting. So that we have those set up and are currently planning those out as well.”
