(KNOX) – The Grand Forks County Commission can only decrease it’s preliminary 2025 budget…and today it moved to do so.
At issue is that the Grand Forks City Council moved to reduce airport mills from four to two.
At a special meeting Friday afternoon, the county moved to do likewise. The motion was written in part by Grand Forks County State’s Attorney Haley Wamstad:
“If any city or township within the county is levying a tax for support of any airport or airport authority, and the total of the county and the city or county and township levy exceeds two mills, the county tax levy within the city or township levying for this purpose must be reduced so that the total levy in the city or township does not exceed two mills.”
A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously on a voice vote.
