Man jumps from metal support beam on Demers Skyway

(KNOX) – A 27-year-old man was taken to the Altru emergency room after falling from the Demers Skyway bridge late Tuesday afternoon.
Grand Forks Police were dispatched to the Demers Skyway for a male subject who was walking over the Demers Skyway and was impeding traffic and intentionally walking in front of vehicles.
Officers tried to make verbal contact with him. The male then walked to the north side of the bridge and crawled over the cement barrier. The male subject eventually let go of the cement barrier and was standing on a metal support beam.
Officers continued on talking to the man for about 20 minutes in an attempt to get him to climb back over onto the bridge… but he refused to do so. The male subject then jumped off of the metal support beam and landed on the ground.
