(KNOX) -Interns with the City of Grand Forks were recognized this week at a council meeting.

Grand Forks Police Chief Mark Nelson is grateful for the city’s intern plan.

“We’ve always jumped at the chance. It started with two, to three interns. Actually great recruiting for us, because we’ve hired a bunch of them,” Nelson told Grand Forks City Council this week.

Nelson said that the Grand Forks is a good fit for his department.

“It gives us the chance to see the quality of work they do for us. And many of them are actually employed by the city. I think that is money well spent,” Nelson told city council.

“And we would like to thank them for their efforts, and you for the opportunity,” Nelson said.
