(KNOX) -On Friday morning at about 2:10 officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to 400 Demers Avenue for a potential domestic disturbance in progress.

Initial investigation revealed that as officers arrived on scene a male identified as John Pribula had fled from the area on foot across the Sorli Bridge into East Grand Forks, MN.

Other parties involved claimed no injuries and didn’t wish for further police assistance.

East Grand Forks Police Department officers advised that Pribula had refused to halt for them when given orders to stop and then Pribula proceeded to jump into the Red River and began to swim northbound.

The Unmanned Aircraft Team (UAS), Grand Forks Fire Department, Grand Forks Regional Water Rescue Team, and Altru Health Systems were called to the scene.

Pribula was located by the use of UAS Team’s drone and was taken into custody without incident by EGFPD officers on the East Grand Forks side of the Red River.

No other involved parties were injured and Altru Health Systems were able to evaluate Pribula.

There was no known threat to the public.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact the Grand Forks Police Department.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, the East Grand Forks Police Department, the Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru Health Systems assisted the East Grand Forks and the Grand Forks Police Departments.
