Mall of America to host 50-year commemmoration of Vietnam

(KNOX) – The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is holding the commemoration event marking the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War this week, June 13-15 at Mall of America®. Over the three days, attendees can see historical museum displays, the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall, view Vietnam War documentaries and more. There will also be a Resource Fair with valuable resources and information for Vietnam-era Veterans and their families.

On Friday, June 14 at 11 a.m., there will be a Commemoration Program at Mall of America in the Huntington® Bank Rotunda with speakers, music and storytelling, followed by a complimentary brunch for Vietnam Veterans. Commemoration program speakers include:

  • Government officials
  • Vietnam Veteran Pam Barrows
  • Vietnam Veteran Larry Mahoney
  • MDVA Commissioner Brad Lindsay
  • Maj. Gen. Edward Chrystal
  • Maj. Gen. Shawn Manke
  • Chaplain (COL) Buddy Winn

Tom Lyons, Vietnam Veteran and Host of Minnesota Military Radio will MC the program.
