(KNOX) -The Grand Forks Committee of the Whole heard about the Safe Streets for All Action Plan.

Blue Webber of the Engineering Firm Bolton and Bank told the committee what the plan is. “To really create a support for planning, infrastructure, behavioral and operational initiatives. To prevent death and serious injury on the road and streets involving all roadway users based on safe systems approach,” said Webber

Once the plan is adopted by the Grand Forks City Council they can apply for federal funds to implement it. “Once we will be complete with the study the MPO slash cities are able to apply for the funding. That will be open and available after the safe study is in place,” Webber told the committee.

The goal of the plan is to make city streets less dangerous for those individuals who use them. “Safe roads for all users. So everyone from penetrations, cyclists those with mobility issues, but still making sure that we are using safe vehicles. And that we are creating safer speeds, safe road designs,” Webber said.

The plan will look at the state of current streets in the City of Grand Forks. “Anywhere we have a high injury network in the communities. How can we create some actual engineering around the solutions on those,” said Webber.
