(KNOX) – Marshfield Clinic Health System of Marshfield, Wisconsin has reached a memo of understanding to merge with Sanford Health.
Should the merger go through, the combined system would bring together nearly 56,000 employees, 56 hospitals, 4,300 providers, two fully integrated health plans, specialty pharmacies, and nationally recognized research.
Sanford Health would serve as the parent company and the headquarters would remain in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Marshfield Clinic would have three seats on the Sanford board of directors.
The deal is expected to close within the next six months.
