Catastrophic flooding continues in Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa

(AP) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz describes flooding in the southern part of the state as catastrophic… with entire communities under feet of water.
The Minnesota National Guard has been activated to help with the worst flooding in Waterville’s history after close to 18 inches of rain.
A state of emergency has been declared in Jackson, Minnesota, and its population of 3,000 residents.

A railroad bridge connecting North Sioux City, South Dakota with Sioux City, Iowa collapsed late Sunday.
Highway crews have closed a seven-mile stretch of Interstate 29 in the southeast tip of South Dakota… with river levels rising from flash flooding. The area received an estimated 10-to-15 inches of rain over three days. Many rivers may not crest until later in the week.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem declared a state of emergency.
Spencer, Iowa has imposed a curfew after flooding surpassed a record set in 1953. Governor Kim Reynolds has declared a disaster for 21 Iowa counties.
In drone video posted by the local sheriff, no streets were visible, just roofs and treetops poking above the water.
