Minot AFB teacher earns Presidential Honor

(KNOX) – A mathematics teacher at Minot Air Force Base is being honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science teaching.
Melvina Murray has taught at Dakota Elementary since 2020.
Aside from her second-grade math instruction… Murray began an effort of having students write letters and give treats to young airmen.
Murray also created monthly cultural bulletin boards so that student feel heard and represented.
Up to 110 teachers from 50 states are recognized annually with the Presidential Award. For Excellence in Mathematics and Science teaching.
Recipients receive $10,000 from the National Science Foundation… an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C… and a presidential certificate.
