NDSC hears GF disorderly conduct case

A Grand Forks man found guilty of disorderly conduct has asked the North Dakota Supreme Court to overturn the jury finding.

Roland Riemers was charged in October of 2022 with blocking a train along the 5400 block of DeMers Avenue.

Riemers claimed he was trying to make a citizen’s arrest of the engineer because the train was blocking a nearby crossing. Employees said it was Reimers on the tracks that prevented the train from moving.

In remarks to the state’s high court today (Thursday) Riemers stated that an 80 year old man carrying a clipboard was no match for a 90 ton engine. He also argued there was no evidence to support claims that he tossed flares on the track.

Riemers was fined $500 dollars upon his conviction.

The North Dakota Supreme Court took the case under advisement.
