EGF council approves pay plan

By Doug Barrett Apr 3, 2024 | 7:21 AM

The salaries of elected leaders in East Grand Forks will be going up next year.

The city council voted last night (Tuesday) to increase council pay from $6,000 to $9,000 dollars. The salary for the mayor would climb from $9,600 to $14,400 dollars a year.

The pay plan will cost the city an extra $32,400 dollars per year.

Council member Dale Helms says with budget issues looming now is not a good time for a pay raise.

Salaries have not been adjusted since 2008. A motion to approve the increase starting in 2025 passed on a 5-2 vote.
