GF man arrested after GFSO pursuit

A 21-year old Grand Forks man faces multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a pursuit early this morning (Friday).

The Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department says Elijah Belgarde was clocked going 83 on the 1700 block of South Washington around 12:30 a.m. Authorities say Belgarde refused to stop and traveled down multiple streets before coming to a stop in an alley behind the 1100 block of Park Drive.

During the arrest a male occupant fled the scene on foot. With the help of a K-9 and the Regional UAS Team a juvenile male was found hiding behind a residence about a block away.

Belgarde is charged felony fleeing a law enforcement officer, reckless endangerment – extreme indifference, false information to a law enforcement officer, driving under suspension, speeding and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The juvenile was arrested upon suspicion of refusing to halt and transported to juvenile detention.
