An unidentified man was taken to Altru Hospital last night (Tuesday) after falling from the Sorlie Bridge.
Grand Forks police were called to the downtown river crossing around 8:40 p.m. on a report of a male subject who had climbed underneath of support beams. When officers arrived on scene they made contact with the individual and attempted to persuade him to come down. Authorities say the male was uncooperative and fell from a support beam landing on the ice below.
Personnel from the GFPD and Grand Forks Fire Department ran out onto the ice to provide medical care. The extent of the injuries were not immediately known.
