
The Grand Forks Region Economic Corporation (EDC) has secured a $329,191 dollar grant to help address local workforce issues.
In addition the EDC partnered with several companies and organizations to secure $83,494 dollars in matching money.
The grant money is part of a Regional Workforce Impact Program established the North Dakota Legislature. The North Dakota Department of Commerce recently made $1.53 million available to the four county region that includes Walsh…Nelson…Pembina…and Grand Forks County for workforce attraction and retention.
The action plan will focus on quantifying labor demands for the next five years…assessing skills gaps…map relocation opportunities…assess assets and infrastructure…and targeting specific talent groups.
Another aspect of the plan will focus on keeping home grown talent in the region.
North Dakota’s unemployment rate is among the lowest in the nation.
