Hatton weighs pool financing options, reaches agreement with City Park

(KNOX) –

The City of Hatton wants it on the record that it will do whatever it takes to continue to have a swimming pool in town.

That includes financing repairs to the pool and accompanying building, which city leaders see hitting six figures.

Hatton City Council has a few weeks to mull over options… from raising the city sales tax by half-to-one percent… and applying for a grant from North Dakota REC that, if the application is approved, would finance half of the pool costs at two percent interest.

Mayor Stu Letcher says the City and the Hatton Men’s Club can easily cover the other half.

Whether it’s pool water or drinking water, Hatton residents will be paying more per 1,000 cubic feet used. The City of Hatton is raising monthly rates from $5.35 to $6. The increase covers the cost of water that Hatton purchases from the East Central Water District.
