By Doug Barrett Mar 4, 2024 | 8:28 AM

The state-owned North Dakota mill reported a profit of $4.3 million in the second quarter of its fiscal year – October through December of 2023. That compares with $4.2 million in the same quarter last year.

Mill manager Vance Taylor says he’s still seeing increases in the sale of the bag flour in supermarkets resulting in the first increase in home baking since the pandemic.

Taylor says he’s cautiously optimistic looking ahead.  “We do expect demand to increase slightly through the rest of the year. driving shipping volumes up.  We are monitoring the somewhat dry conditions in northeast North Dakota.”

The Grand Forks based mill has been in operation since 1922.
