(KNOX) – Smokey conditions in Fergus Falls Sunday afternoon was due to a 1,000+ acre, fast moving wildland fire in Western Township of Minnesota’s Otter Tail County.
The fire was contained by about 8:30 p.m.
Smoldering, smoke producing areas are being monitored by Minnesota DNR and U.S. Fish and Wildlife crews.
A change in wind direction should carry any smoke away from Fergus Falls.
Flames burned for several hours Sunday morning near Waseca in southern Minnesota, prompting a Red Flag Warning for strong winds and dry conditions.
