East Grand Forks is readying a new four year agreement with the Minnesota DNR for managing the Red River State Recreational Area. The current Joint Powers Agreement expired at the end of 2023.
Last year the campground received 11,300 reservations – 388 off the record set in 2018.
The state’s obligation under the deal will top out at $1.25 million dollars. Annual revenue is split between the city and DNR.
The city council is expected to approve the agreement next week.
This marks the 20th year of the campground opening.
