Natural gas customers of Xcel Energy in North Dakota will see higher rates starting next month.
The North Dakota Public Service Commission has granted the utility an interim rate increase of $7.9 million dollars. That’s slightly less than the amount Xcel is seeking from state regulators.
PSC’s Julie Fedorchak says the rate hike meets the criteria for review. “Customers will be subject to refunds if the final rates that we approve in this case are ultimately less than that.”
The increase will cost the average user another $5.73 per month.
