Grand Forks County no longer wants to negotiate with the city over ownership of the downtown parking ramp.
As part of the take-over the City of Grand Forks has asked the county to pay for the initial ramp repairs to the tune of millions of dollars. The commission voted 4-1 to retain ownership.
In addition to the initial repairs there are longer-term maintenance needs. County Administrator Tom Ford says adjusting parking rates is one piece of the puzzle.
The county will tap into remaining American Rescue Plan Act…or ARPA funds…to pay for the fix.
The commission also gave preliminary approval to a project management agreement with AE2S to oversee ramp bids and repairs. The total project is not to exceed $3 million dollars.
