East Grand Forks is ready to replace its 23 year old outdoor early warn-ing system.
The city council approved the new sirens last night (Tuesday) at a cost of $107,000 dollars.
Fire Chief Jeff Boushee says there are currently four sirens that blanket East Grand Forks and they are nearing the end of their lifespan. He says the system provides good coverage with the exception of the campground and downtown area. To fill that void one of the existing si-rens will be moved to Fire Station 1 to improve the coverage.
The installation would take place this summer.
