A fire damaged a Grand Forks apartment building last night (Monday).
The Grand Forks Fire Department was called to 2303 27th Avenue South shortly before 9:30 p.m. When crews arrived they encountered heavy smoke and flames on the third floor of the building.
The majority of the damage was contained to the central portion of the complex. All residents were force to relocate overnight. The American Red Cross assisted people displaced in the 92-unit building. Twenty-three people and five pets stayed overnight at the shelter Red Cross responders opened at the Alerus Center.
There were no reported injuries. The cause is under investigation.
The GFFD responded with five engines…one truck…one command vehicle…and 18 personnel.
