East Grand Forks emergency managers say they have a sound plan for improving safety throughout the city.
The project involves replacing the 23 year old outdoor early warning system at a cost of $107,000 dollars.
Fire Chief Jeff Boushee says there are currently four sirens that blanket East Grand Forks and they are nearing the end of their lifespan. He says the system provides good coverage with the exception of the campground and downtown area. “I am requesting to replace the four existing and then relocate one of the existing sirens to Station 1 to fill the void downtown and at the campground.”
The installation would take place this summer. The city council will likely act on the request next week.
