Car damages front of GF church (updated)

Update:

Grand Forks Police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash just before 1 p.m. Monday near Campbell Dr. and S. Washington St.

A 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt had crashed into the Calvary Community Church at 1917 S. Washington St.
The driver and two of the three passengers were transported to Altru Hospital with unknown injuries.
Through investigation it was determined that the Cobalt was travelling north on S. Washington when the driver passed out.

A passenger grabbed the steering wheel and the vehicle turned onto the frontage road and then into the building.

The driver, Issa Bawzer of Grand Forks was arrested later and charged with DUI, DUI Refusal, Felony drug possession, Reckless Endangerment and No Insurance. He was brought to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

Original story 1:30 p.m.
The driver of a white sedan hit the front of the Calvary Community Church this afternoon.  The church is located near South Washington and Campbell Drive.

Around 1:30 p.m. Grand Forks fire teams were making temporary structural repairs to the entrance of the building.

Details surround the accident itself have not been released.  There’s no word on injuries to the driver. The Grand Forks Police Department is investigating the crash scene.
