The Circle of Friends board of directors has named its chair as acting CEO. Chris Douthit will assume the role moving forward.
The decision follows a series of budget cuts in recent weeks that eliminated the paid CEO position last month. Douthit tells KNOX News that he will keep the duties separated from his role at UND.
COF has been working to close a budget gap that also forced the closure of the adoption center on South Washington. Still to be resolved is the contract with the city for animals brought to the shelter. The Grand Forks council is expected to discuss the issue next week.
