By Doug Barrett Jan 16, 2024 | 6:07 PM

Circle of Friends Animal Shelter closed for the day after an individual threatened to harm himself.

In a social media post COF said due to a “sensitive situation” involving firearms and for the safety of both animals and humans the shelter on South Washington went into lockdown mode this afternoon.

The Grand Forks Police Department is investigating the incident.  There were no reported injuries.

The announcement included information about the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The Safe Paws Workshop…volunteer hours…and all adoptions scheduled for today were put on hold.  They will be rescheduled for a later date.
