Daudt to leave MN House

By Doug Barrett Jan 11, 2024 | 7:47 AM

The number of Minnesota lawmakers calling it quits continues to grow.

The latest name is Representative Kurt Daudt who plans to retire next month. Daudt served as House speaker from 2015 to 2019. He plans to resign his District 27B seat effective Feb. 11 — one day before the 2024 session begins.

Daudt — who represents portions of several counties in east-central Minnesota — said in a statement that serving the people of Minnesota “has been the greatest honor of my life” and thanked his friends and neighbors for their trust in him during his time at the Legislature.

Daudt attended the University of North Dakota.

There are currently twelve House members who have retired or plan to leave at the end of the 2023-24 biennium.
