In a matter of days a number of new laws hit the books in Minnesota.
Starting January 1st Minnesota workers will be able to earn sick and safe time. Under the law employees would earn a minimum one hour of paid time for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
The New Year also brings about greater access to menstrual products in school at no charge. Products are required to be available in restrooms regularly used by students in grades 4 to 12.
Also in the public safety law is new language further restricting juvenile strip searches in detention facilities.
For an extra $30 dollars vehicle owners can buy specialty license plates for Minnesota’s six professional teams. The money would be deposited in each team’s foundations accounts for philanthropic or charitable purposes.
