East Grand Forks Water and Light will add an extra layer of protection to its bank account after discovering their routing number was compromised.
It resulted in a pair of fraudulent checks being written against the account. The bogus checks totaled less than $4,400 dollars.
The protection program will cost $50 dollars a month plus three-cents per check – or around $650 dollars per year.
Water and Light board members approved the program (Wednesday) noting it’s a growing problem impacting all business types.
