The number of designs for a new Minnesota flag is now down to three. The State Emblems Redesign Commission trimmed the list in half on Tuesday.
A public submission period that ended October 30th attracted over 2,600 flag proposals.
The group is facing an end of the year deadline to select a winner.
Commission member Michael Harralson pointed to one report that suggests Minnesotans struggle to see how the designs represent the state.
Others argued that they have heard nothing but positive feedback about the short list of designs.
Last week the commission approved a state seal. The group will continue their work at a meeting on Friday.
