The longest-serving K9 officer in Grand Forks Police Department history will retire as of January 1st.
K9 Shelby was obtained from Winnipeg Police in 2014 and is now almost 11 years old.
The P-D says K9 Shelby has been involved in hundreds of deployments in her career, including public demonstrations… illegal narcotic arrests… evidence recovery… apprehending fleeing suspects… and working with the Grand Forks Regional S.W.A.T. Team.
K9 Shelby is being adopted by her long-time handler, Sgt. Andrew Ebertowski. Her final shift will be December 29th.
The G-F-P-D has three other K9 officers: Hart, Riot and Kade.
