The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and North Dakota Highway Patrol reopened Interstate 29 northbound and southbound from Fargo to the Canadian border. A No Travel Advised is in effect for the Grand Forks area. The road was closed due to blowing snow, icy road conditions, near-zero visibility and stranded vehicles.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol have lifted the no travel advisory on highways in northwest Minnesota. Area highways were under no travel advisory due to blowing snow and low visibility earlier today. Motorists are urged to use caution as highways remain partially covered with reduced visibility.
No travel advisory lifted on highways:
- Highway 2- Crookston to East Grand Forks
- Highway 200- Ada to North Dakota border
The City of East Grand Forks is declaring a snow emergency which will take effect at 12:01am on Sunday, December 10th. The emergency shall remain in effect until all streets have been cleared to their full width.
During a snow emergency there is no parking allowed on City streets. Vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency are subject to ticketing and towing.

Motorists are not allowed to travel on a closed road due to life-threatening conditions. Not traveling in areas where there is no travel advised will allow crews to clear the blockages and open up roads more quickly.
Xcel Energy has been responding to a series of power outages in Grand Forks. Most of them are located in the north end of the city. The largest was impacting 114 customers.
The 12:50 p.m. Delta flight at the GFK is posted as being cancelled due to weather.
The Grand Forks Landfill has been closed due to the weather.

No Travel Advisories are posted for much of the region due to snow and blowing snow. The North Dakota DOT reports I-29 and Highway 2 are ice covered. The Minnesota DOT at 8:30 a.m. issued a No Travel Advisory for northwest Minnesota including Highway 2 between Crookston and East Grand Forks and Highway 200 from Ada to the North Dakota border.
The Grand Forks Airport has clocked a few wind gusts in excess of 60 mph this morning. At least one flight has been delayed due to the winter conditions. The GFK is urging travelers to check the latest flight status before heading out to the airport. GF/EGF buses delayed their start until 9:00 a.m. East Grand Forks Water and Light crews battled a power outage that kept many customers in the dark early this morning.
Weather conditions are expected to improve west to east through the morning hours.
