When Grand Forks voters head to the polls today (Tuesday) they will be faced with a single ballot measure.
At issue is whether to eliminate the sunset clause on a .75% sales tax that currently funds the Alerus Center. If approved a portion of the proceeds beyond 2029 would target an indoor recreational complex.
During the last special city election in 2017 over 5,000 votes were cast. Just shy of 48-hundred ballots were counted for the Valley Middle School referendum in May.
The city has printed some 13,000 paper ballots to decide the issue.
The preliminary election results will be canvassed November 27th and approved by the city council on December 4th.
Polls are open until 7:00 p.m.
