A Grand Forks man has pleaded guilty in federal court to multiple charges of possession and distribution of child porn.
Nicholas Morgan-Derosier pleaded guilty to seven of ten federal charges… six for possession of child porn and one for receipt and distribution of child porn.
Morgan-Derosier’s attorney noted in court today (Fri) that his client’s plea is conditional — pending the result of a possible appeal of the denial of a motion to suppress.
Chief Judge Peter Welte set a sentencing date of January 19th.
Prosecutors say Derosier faces up to life in prison under a plea deal.
Morgan-Derosier gained attention last year, when it was learned that, while in prison, he exchanged text messages with Grand Forks State Senator Ray Holmberg.
Holmberg later resigned, ending a 46-year legislative career.
