In an effort to make sure food trucks comply with safety codes the Grand Forks council gave preliminary approval last night (Monday) to a reciprocity agreement being adopted by other cities across the state.
Local Public Health Units and the North Dakota Health and Human Services Department have worked to support the industry with common regulations.
Grand Forks Environmental Health Manager Javin Bedard says the goal is to reduce the regulatory burden by recognizing other jurisdictional licenses. “We have vendors come to town and they think they are licensed in the state and we unfortunately have to tell them they need a city license as well.”
The fee for operating an outside mobile food unit in Grand Forks will be decided at next week’s regular council meeting.
