A Detroit Lakes man has been sentenced to one year in jail in connection with a May 2022 crash that killed a woman and injured her husband.
Fifty-four-year-old Wade Olds was sentenced to one year at Becker County Jail… and nearly six years of prison time stayed for 15 years, while he is on probation.
Olds was charged with two counts of felony criminal vehicular homicide, and operation, while intoxicated.
Court records say Olds drove his pickup off a road and into a motel room, seriously injuring the occupants, Jacklyn and Frank Benninger. Olds then fled in his vehicle.
Jacklyn died of her injuries about six months later, while Frank survived.
Olds’ blood alcohol level was point-1-4-8, nearly twice the legal limit.
A judge also ordered that Olds not be given early discharge from the probation program, which will require 30 days of electronic and alcohol monitoring every year, and 500 hours of community service.
Olds must also attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel… and not drive until permission is granted by his probation agent.
