Semi tips, sugar beets spill in GF

A load of sugar beets spilled after a semi and its trailer tipped over in north Grand Forks this (Thu) afternoon.

Grand Forks Police say, around 12:30 PM, officers were sent to the Loaf and Jug gas station at Gateway Drive and I-29.

As the rig turned into the parking lot, the semi and loaded trailer rolled onto the vehicle’s passenger side, spilling the beets.

The driver, 32-year-old Steven Clapsaddle of Grand Forks was cited for reckless driving and care required.

Police say the truck is owned by Knudson Farms.

No injuries were reported.

The Grand Forks P-D is publicly thanking the Grand Forks Fire Department for its assistance at the scene, as well as Interstate Towing for assistance in the cleanup.
