EGFPD shopping for new bodycams

By Doug Barrett Aug 23, 2023 | 8:15 AM

The East Grand Forks Police Department is looking to purchase new body cams for officers. The current system installed in 2018 is running out of storage capacity and the warranty plan will no longer be supported.

According to a staff report the new system will cost the city around $100,000 over a five year period. PD Chief Mike Hedlund says the new system includes unlimited cloud based storage.  “The nice thing with this is halfway through all the bodycams – which we are requesting ten – they will replace with brand new cameras in year three.”

The city council reviewed the body cam figures at last night’s (Tuesday) work session. A final decision on the “subscription” plan with the vendor WatchGuard will come at a future meeting.
