Roughriders Start Hot with Girls Golf Win

GRAND FORKS (KNOX Radio)–The Red River girls golf team picked up where they left off last fall, where they left as the runners-up in the East Region and state events.

Red River won the first Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) event of the year Friday at Bjornson Park in Valley City, firing a 316 as a group, eight shots better than Fargo Davies.

Senior Jaya Grube led the Roughriders with a 75.  Sophomores Sophie Brakke and Ella Speidel carded a 78 and 81, respectively.  Taylor Piepkorn rounded out the scoring with an 82.

Central finished seventh with a team 403.  The Knights were led Madelyn Trapnell, who fired an 82.
