The Grand Forks Park District has received a $500,000 dollar grant for development of a new community park.
The park will be part of the Crary Development south of 62nd and west of Washington. The grant from the North Dakota Park and Recreation Department requires a dollar match.
The center of the development features a meandering stormwater pond that will be bordered by a two mile long bike/walking path and fire pits. In the winter the pond could be cleared for ice skating. The grant will help target a playground…bike paths…and a skating loop.
NDPRD received 58 grant applications with project costs totaling $35.5 million. After reviewing each proposal a total of 22 projects were selected for funding. Other communities to receive grants include: Reynolds…Grafton…Hillsboro…and Walhalla.
“These grants provide a significant boost to communities across North Dakota and we’re very grateful the Legislature was supportive of funding this program in its recent session,” said NDPRD Director Cody Schulz. “The new projects and park upgrades are especially impactful as we work to create healthier, vibrant communities.”
