A St. Michael (ND) woman has pleaded guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, after a 2021 crash that killed three people and severely injured another.
The U-S Attorney’s Office says 20-year-old Trina Hunt was driving a vehicle on the Spirit Lake Reservation that was involved in a two-vehicle accident.
Hunt’s two passengers sustained minor injuries.
The other vehicle veered off the road and rolled over. Three of the four passengers — an adult male, a girl and a boy — were killed. Another girl suffered severe injuries that sent her to a Fargo hospital’s intensive care unit.
The driver, 20-year-old Winter Skye Bigtrack, suffered a broken collarbone.
Investigators say Hunt and Bigtrack were driving recklessly at high speeds without licenses, while under the influence of liquor and a controlled substance.
Bigtrack previously pleaded guilty to similar charges and was sentenced last year to nearly five years in federal prison.
Hunt is scheduled for sentencing on November 7.
