Over a month after he was first offered the job the Grand Forks School Board today (Monday) finalized the hiring of Matt Bakke as the next Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education.
Bakke was the superintendent of the Devils Lake School District. The D-L board delayed accepting Bakke’s resignation until they identified a new superintendent.
A total of three candidates interviewed for the Grand Forks position. Bakke will earn a salary of $173,900 for the 2023-24 school year – minus one month of pay due to the late start date.
He takes over the role vacated by Brenda Lewis who is the new Superintendent of Schools in Fridley (MN).
Devils Lake hired Wahpeton Principal Ned Clooten as its new leader.
